The Infernal Order

The Infernal Order is the network of friends, collaborators and conspirators that have decided to take on the extra commitment and have applied for formal membership in the Modern Church of Satan.

Never members only

No formal membership is required to be a part of the Modern Church of Satan. If you choose to live the life of a Modern Satanist and call yourself a member of the Modern Church of Satan then it is so.

The Infernal Order is only for those who wish to make a statement of their dedication and take part in the formal ceremonies, the social network and the Libertine and Exemplar path.

The Libertines

Wikipedia defines a Libertine as one devoid of any restraints, especially one who ignores or even spurns accepted morals, and forms of behavior sanctioned by the larger society. It has a similar meaning in the Modern Church of Satan. The Libertine path is designed to create free-thinking individuals; it is a path of study and achievement, a guide, as well as a yardstick by which to gauge your personal success in life.

The Libertine system is similar to the model of the modern academic system. It is a tiered system ranging from I – IX in the tradition of occult orders of the past. Each tier, starting with Libertine I, is expected to have studied and mastered the skills of that particular tier.

A member at Libertine I is relatively new to Satanism and would be considered at the very beginning of his or her journey on the Left Hand Path. As the Libertine progresses in study and life experience, they attain higher Libertine levels. Each increased level signifies further education and comprehension of Satanism and Self. Yet the Libertine is not expected or required to attain any specific level – it is up to the individual to grade themselves and decide how much they wish to study and which level they wish to attain.

An occult system that works

Satanism and the Left Hand Path is incredibly personal. What is considered an accomplishment for one does not necessarily qualify as an accomplishment for another. For example, a musician’s Will may be very different from the Will of a Doctor. To allow for these personal differences the requirements for each Libertine level have been carefully designed to have significant flexibility within the curriculum and standards. Each Libertine walks their own path and should be acknowledged and rewarded for their personal choices and accomplishments.
The Libertine system also provides an excellent road map for the Occultist to follow and use as a guide without imposing restrictions on the individual. It provides realistic goals for our Libertines to achieve as the academic and time requirements for each Tier become increasingly challenging to obtain.

"A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life" ~ Charles Darwin

The requirements for Each Libertine level are posted in our Grotto Forum and are constantly being developed, revised and updated. Once a member feels that they have attained a certain Libertine level they may apply for official status and a Libertine Certificate in recognition of their achievements.
