I would appreciate it if anyone could direct me to philosophers or psychologists (or anyone else of value) who have explored the inherent value (social, philosophical, psychological) of antinomianism and iconoclasm as principles.

I think, within the esoteric community, Pete Carroll does a good job on approaching the basic premises with some brief paras in Liber Null & Psychonaut but I would like to see how the inherent value of these concepts has been explored by others.

I am yet to really see anyone address the principles as well as many Chan and Zen thinkers, particularly Linji, but I'm sure there is much I have missed in the history of Western philosophy/psychology.

Thanks in advance

Christopher Hyatt, Lon Milo Duquette, Regardie to a lesser extent (though extremely influential on the previous two) and my personal favorite: Robert Anton Wilson... hope those lead to some interesting avenues of thought for you.

Thanks Athiel

I'm familiar with them, and Wilson in particular (especially Quantum Psychology) demonstrates great antinomian value ... but I'm not sure if they address, specifically, the issue of "heresy" itself.

However, I may well go back to Quantum Psychology and read it more deeply.

Thanks again

I would specifically look at the Duquette/Hyatt books "pacts with the devil" and "rebels and devils". As far as RAW is concerned his involvement in the Discordian movement is almost a case study, Hagbard Celine from Illuminatus is nearly the epitome of the heretic and the Cosmic Trigger series, emails to the universe, Prometheus Rising and some of Bob's Lectures (the series "Robert Wilson explains it all or Old Bob reveals his ignorance" is great).

You may also want to consider looks at Gysin, Burroughs and P.Orridge in terms of cultural revelance even if they lack academic credentials.

Heresy from a religious/spiritual perspective is a common thread amongst them all even if its most frequently implicit.

You could also consider Jack Parson's work... though short of the Babylon working I haven't been able to find much of his personal work.

Ah, "Pacts With The Devil"!

One of the most influential texts I've read that made me genuinely consider the need to ritually "break" with social/religious conditioning, and made me seriously consider Satanism.

If I remember correctly, the position was put that without some deliberate, probably ritual, "sundering" from one's socio/religio/cultural conditioning, one would probably always be bound to it.

Provided a very good justification for the Black Mass.

I may have to re-read it, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
