It is important to understand the modern definition of “Will”

Will comprises the following:

Values, beliefs, or attitudes about what is good, right, desirable, and worthwhile.

Value system - the way you organize, rank, prioritize, and make decisions based on your values.

Morals - your beliefs about what is right or wrong, good or bad.

Core value - the value that you hold in highest priority above all others.

Beliefs - the rules and views that you impose upon the world based upon your experience and values.

Self-Image - these are the beliefs that you have about yourself. They are the foundation of your capabilities and success.

Core Value and Will

Happiness and comfort in life comes from knowing your life purpose and working to achieve it.

You do not need "God" to tell you what your life purpose is.
You are your own god.
You choose the life you live.
You are responsible for your own happiness.

 

Follow your path.

In The Modern Church of Satan the most important person is you. Most people spend years in education learning and memorizing information they will never use again. Why is it so rare for people to spend even a few hours learning about themselves?

Aleister Crowley wrote ‘Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law’. Each of us is unique; we have our own path and our own purpose. Crowley called this our ‘Will’ and warned us that if we are not aware of our true Will we may be devoting energies to destroying ourselves. One only needs to look out the window to see the countless millions in loveless marriages, going to work at jobs they hate to help support children they never wanted. Their life is without sex, joy, love or passion, and they are too scared to change or do anything to alter their rueful existence.

Happiness is not found through self-sacrifice for others or in being a slave to the calling of another (unless you are into that sort of thing, such as BDSM). True happiness is found by discovering your Will and following your desires. Happiness is obtained by doing that which makes you happy. The simplicity of this truth is astounding, but more so is how few take action on this truth.

Discover your Will

There are some who are born with a calling. They have always known their true purpose. For most others it is a complex journey of self discovery. The pursuit of one’s Will often only leads to the discovery of another greater purpose that you were previously unaware of or not ready to see. Your journey of self is called the Abyss, each pursuit leads to a deeper and greater self discovery that is closer to your core and true Will.

While traveling along the path of discovery, a person improves their life according to their own internal values and moral code. The greatest gift one can give oneself is to fully determine their own values and moral code and not utilize a contaminated and falsely imposed code forced upon you by family, society or limiting beliefs.

 

Your Core Value defines who you are.

Your Core Value is the best determination of your Will. As Satanists we are not satisfied with simply knowing our Values or even our Core Value. We need to determine where these values came from, why they are our values and if they truly are the values we desire to fulfill our Will. Values can be reprogrammed and changed if desired. This is what sets apart the Modern Satanist from the herd.
